Our Staff

Herbert M. Weinman, MD, MBA, is a family physician with over 35 years of practice and administrative experience. He is currently a principal and medical director of BCE technology, a physician education organization that specializes in documentation and compliance, and owns a home health agency.

Dr. Weinman was formerly Medicare medical director and vice-president of provider services with Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania. He also served as a medical director of an HMO and principal of a practice management company, and was in family practice in New Paltz, NY for 25 years. In addition to teaching in residency programs, Dr. Weinman was an instructor in the masters program in healthcare at Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

He received his medical degree from Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, and graduated from Marist College with his MBA in 1993. Dr. Weinman is board certified in Family Practice and Quality Assurance and Utilization Review, and is a certified healthcare compliance officer.

Stephen Weinman, M.D. was born in New York and raised in New Paltz, graduating from New Paltz High School in 1980. He graduated from Cornell University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and in 1989 he graduated from Upstate Medical School in Syracuse, New York. He went on to complete his residency training in Family Practice in Binghamton. Since 1992 Dr. Weinman has worked in many emergency departments, urgent cares and family practices around the country and as far as Guam, in the South Pacific. Dr. Weinman is a certified Medical Review Officer and United States Civil Surgeon. He also wrote the first trail guide to the Shawangunk Mountains surrounding New Paltz, called "A Rock With A View," which is still the number one selling trail guide in the area. Dr. Weinman returned to his hometown of New Paltz permanently in 1998 and started FirstCare with his family in 2007. He is married with three children.

Virginia "Ginny" Weinman Leitner, PA-C is a registered Physician Assistant with 13 years emergency medicine experience. She was raised in New Paltz, graduating from New Paltz High School in 1984. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University in 1989. She earned her degree as a Physician Assistant in 1994 from Long Island University, Brooklyn, NY, graduating second in her class. She has served as an Emergency Room P.A. since 1994 in Mt. Sinai Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, NY, St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Yonkers, NY, and most recently, Margaretville Medical Center in Margaretville, NY. Ginny happily returned to New Paltz with her 2 children in 2005 and started FirstCare with her father and brother in 2007.

Lauren Amato, Receptionist
Started in 2008
Lauren Amato has over 20 years experience in the customer service industry. She feels that a friendly face and a hug makes almost anything feel at least a little bit better. Her goal in life is to make the world a happier place, one person at a time.

She enjoys cooking, baking, photography and other crafts, and spending time with her family. Lauren is married and has two great little girls that she is very proud of. As a youngster, Lauren had the desire to work in the medical field, having had relatives close to her in this line of work to admire. Lauren is thrilled to spread her wings and finally embark on a new career choice.

Shannon Slutzky, Radiologic Technologist
Started in 2008
Shannon Slutzky was born and raised in Peekskill N.Y. After graduating from SUNY Alfred in 1998 with an associates degree in medical assisting, she moved with her college sweetheart to Kingston, N.Y.

Once in Kingston she returned to school at HVCC to earn her associates for radiologic technology. She has been employed with The Kingston Hospital for the past 5 years and more recently the Benedictine Hospital as well. Shannon lives in Kingston with her husband, three year old son, two year old daughter and two crazy dogs.

With the change of lifestyle came the change in career and she could not be happier being part of the Firstcare team. She has been part of the FirstCare family since the day she was born as she is a first cousin of the Weinman's.

Alex Roviezzo, Receptionist
Started 2010
One of our friendly faces at the front desk is Alex. She is a local who grew up in the Hudson Valley and is currently studying to be a teacher at Dutchess Community College.  Alex will be transferring to SUNY New Paltz to finish her Bachelors degree. She loves animals and actively advocates for their rights.  Alex also likes outdoor activities, reading, and helping her fellow community members. She hopes to teach abroad when she graduates.

Sharon Willis, Reception
Started in 2011
Born and raised in Newburgh, Sharon comes to us with extensive office experience. She is a true local, having gone to school in Marlboro and spent her career in the Hudson Valley. She is a single mom with one darling daughter. Sharon likes nature and music.

Kim Doyle, Office Manager
Started in 2011
Kim comes to us with 25 years experience in the medical field, 9 of which were spent managing another urgent care medical facility. She is a Newburgh native with three children. Kim graduated from Newburgh Free Academy and SUNY Orange. We’re very happy to have a manager with her experience.

Jennifer BaRoss, Radiologic Technologist
Started in 2011
Jennifer BaRoss was born in Boston, MA. She lived in Fort Kent, ME until she graduated high school, and then moved back to Massachusetts, where she worked as a Medical Assistant at Lahey Clinic for 3 years. After graduating with her Radiologic Technology degree from Middlesex Community College she moved to the Accord, NY where she lives with her husband and two crazy cats. Jen works not only at FirstCare but also at Pulse-MD Urgent Care in Wappingers Falls.
